Lesson Plan Framework

1.  Project Name: Rock Hill High School Writing Network Pages

2. Intended Audience:  Student and Teacher

3. Content:  Writing

4. An orientation level project attempting to create a network of writers within the Rock Hill Local School District, the page will contain both sample student and teacher writing in various modes and writing teacher ideas and resources.  Initially all information will come from my knowledge and my classes and will, therefore be limited.  I hope, however, to connect with at least a few teachers who would be willing to send their students' work, their own writing, and their own resources and ideas for teaching.

5. Publication is the ultimate goal for all WRITING PROCESSES standards.  My website will provide a location where students will recognize an authentic audience to read the result of all thier prewriting, drafting, and editing.  WRITING APPLICATION standards are used to determine the categories of writing to be shared:  Reflective compositions, responses to literature, persuasive compositions.  I do not currently have a plan for addressing WRITING CONVENTIONS by workshopping a piece of writing on line.  For educators, the following OHIO STANDARDS FOR (high quality) PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT are addressed:  Standard 7.2 -- "purposeful and continuous process that occurs over time," standard 6.3 -- "collaborative."

6. Materials/Technology/Resources

Professional training time to network with other teachers in the district.

Access to computer lab, internet, and software for such training.

Time (when and where it can be found).

7. Classroom Management

Not Applicable (except to the extent that publishing work for a wider audience sometimes will engage students who care little about one teacher's opinion of their writing).

8. Process

Professional Development Agenda (see below)

9. Assessment

Teachers who complete the afterschool training must complete a technology project on their own or in groups to get the full number of hours credit.

10.  May we share this lesson with other educators through digital and print materials?

Yes.

Standards for Ohio Educators:  6.3 and 7.2

The purpose of this professional development is to enable, support and encourage Rock Hill teachers to begin using new technologies.  Since all grade levels and subject areas are invited, teachers will determine the most applicable subject to be covered and technology to be used.  You may work in pairs (no more than two) as long as the group project addresses the content of both teachers and is created with the effort of both partners.

  • Projects should demonstrate 17 hours worth of experimentation with the chosen technology(ies).
  • Projects should be applicable to the educational environment; however, projects can be appropriately designed for fellow teachers rather than directly for students.
  • Projects should be designed to allow for continuous improvement / adaptation.
